Fox Racing has completely redesigned the Float line for 2005. Everything was considered, including making the FLOAT lighter and making adjustments more intuitive and easy. The new FLOAT air chamber was designed using sophisticated 3-D CAD modeling software and finite element analysis software. This allowed for a lower compression ratio and maximized weight savings without sacrificing strength. It weighs in at a staggering 195g for shocks measuring 17 cm x 4cm and 20 cm X 5cm respectively.
The FLOAT RP3 is the flagship model. It features an externally adjustable ProPedal via a 3-position lever. On-the-fly, the lever provides three distinct ProPedal modes. The first is very mild compression damping. The second offers a moderate amount of pedaling platform. The third mode, firm, allows the rider to pedal extremely efficiently while still being able to withstand sharp edges and bumps. The RP3 features a wide-range rebound damping adjuster, which is located concentrically with the ProPedal lever. Even with gloves, the new knob is easy to use and access.
The rebound circuits and ProPedal improvements have been made to all Float models. The 2003 race season saw significant changes in the valve and piston design. This has allowed for improved pedaling efficiency, better square edge bump absorption and enhanced terrain after rebound performance.
There are three models of float shocks available, each with different levels of adjustability.
FLOATRP3 3-Way adjustable ProPedal damping and adjustable rebound damping. Also adjustable spring rate. Weight: 195g (6.5×1.5 cm without hardware). Available in: 6.5×1.5, 7.25×1.75, 7.5×2.0, 7.5×2.0, 7.875×2.0, 7.5×2.5, 7.5×2.0, 7.5×2.5, 8.5×2.5, 9.5×3.0. Optional AVA (Air Volume Adjuster) required for 8.5 and 9.
FLOAT R Factory-set ProPedal damping with adjustable rebound damping and adjustable spring rate. Weight: 195g (6.5×1.5 cm without hardware). Available in: 6.5×1.5, 7.25×1.75, 7.5×2.0, 7.5×2.0, 7.875×2.0, 8.5×2.5, 9.5×3.0. Optional AVA required for 8.5 and 9.5.
