VICTIM OF A Bike-JACKINGJUNE 21

Tinker Juarez, a mountain bike racing legend, has had to endure many things over his 31-year career. The most difficult was the June 9th incident when his cell phone and road bike were stolen at gunpoint.

Multi-time champion called it the scariest moment in his life. It happened while he was training on one of his regular loops. He rode along a section of the bike path that runs alongside the concrete-paved Los Angeles River. Juarez explained that a?work crew was repaving a section of the bike path and had taken a detour which led you to the city streets.

Unfortunately, these streets were located in the most dangerous part of North Long Beach. I stopped at this park to get water and change my Walkman’s music. I was about to leave when I felt a tap on the shoulder. Juarez looked up to see a gun pointed towards his face. Juarez was demanded to surrender his Cannondale Six13road bicycle and cell phone by the gunman.

Juarez said that he doesn’t think the man knows what he has. Juarez noticed that he did not know how to ride his bike and rode off. Juarez speculates that the bike was likely traded for some kind of bag.
