MOUNT SNOW NATIONAL RELEASEJUNE 23

It doesn’t get much better than this! After an amazing weekend of racing at Mount Snow in round three of the NORBA Nationals series, that was the thought everyone had. We couldn’t have asked for more drama.

Let’s begin with cross-country. Roland was still suffering from the effects of his horrific faceplant in the Tour de Georgia two month prior, so he wasn’t there. Roland decided to skip the next race at Snowshoe after a disappointing performance and instead chose to stay home in Victoria, British Columbia. Resting and recuperating may be a time for rest, but it is also a time when the World Champion has to log some hard miles in a low-stress environment. It was the best therapy. Roland ended up riding at Vermont. Seamus McGrath, a fellow countryman, joined him and they rode to the front. McGrath was ten seconds behind Green at the end of the fourth lap.

CANNOT STAGE BETTER

Roland Green set the standard for the weekend. Let’s take a look at some other highlights.

*Who was the top American? Jeremiah Bishop made a remarkable breakthrough ride, taking third place in cross-country. Harrisonburg, VA native Jeremiah Bishop is a Trek-VW regional rider.

*Mary McConneloug used the last climb of the final lap to drop Alison Sydor from the women’s XC. It was her first NORBA victory. Congratulations, Mary.

*Seamus may have finished second in the XC to Roland, but there was no stopping Haro-Lee Dungarees rider on the Short Track. He was unstoppable by Roland Green and Filip Meirhaghe, the World Cup Champion. McGrath won his first NORBA NCS victory.

*Are you ready for the next Canadian Domination? Roland told us to just start a new race after Ryder Hesjedal’s and Roland Greens 20-race winning streak at Big Bear. McGrath could make this a three-man winning team.

*By capturing and winning the women’s short track, Luna Chix rider Katerina Hansova also won her first NORBA NCS victory.

*Eric Carter won with a broken finger the mountain cross. Eric chose to stay downhill for the next days. (Eric chose to sit out the following days downhill, rather than risking injury by jumping into Yard Sale’s rock garden.

*The Yard Sale was made slippery by rain showers, which led to it being eliminated from the DH Finals.

*Frances Sabrina Jonnier slipped effortlessly through the melee of Marla Streb, Jill Kintner and Katrina Miller to claim her first Women’s MTNX win.

*Frances Cedric Gracia rode her Cannondale to the finish sitting up, and without saddle.

*Gracia just edged Nathan Rennie by a third, but Marla Streb beat Mio Suemasa by a mere half-second for the women’s DH win. Marla Streb won her second NCS title in succession.
